Patrons of Chetham’s Library

For over 350 years, Chetham’s Library has been a place of intellectual pursuit and historical curiosity.

Based in beautiful, medieval buildings in the heart of Manchester City Centre, we offer a unique insight into the past. From the desk where Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels studied together to our 17th century chained library, from a first edition of Milton’s Paradise Lost to the remarkable 15th century Baronial Hall, Chetham’s is an important resource free for all who wish to enter.

As a registered charity, we rely on the support of individuals, businesses and charitable trusts to continue our work. From the care and preservation of our nationally and internationally important collection to the increased accessibility of these rare printed works, the support of the Patrons of Chetham’s Library is crucial to keeping the Library alive.

Please support us today – become a Patron of Chetham’s Library with an annual donation from £38.
