Chetham’s Summer Music Course

  • Sunday 14 Aug - Saturday 20 Aug
  • Chetham's School of Music
  • £850 (£750 for non-residential places)

Join the friendly, specialist tutors at Chetham’s School of Music for a musical summer school like no other.

Within the spectacular musical surroundings of Chetham’s School of Music and The Stoller Hall, in the heart of Manchester, you will get the chance to work with some of the best instrumental and vocal tutors in the world and experience the UK’s leading music school.

Play and make music with like-minded young people – and make new friends from across the UK – in this week-long residential music course.

After the music stops each evening, stay in our purpose built boarding facilities, with plenty of fun activities, games and shared experiences with Chetham’s caring team of staff. Non-residential places are also available.

You will take part in instrumental workshops, benefit from personalised guidance and experience singing, musicianship and ensemble music playing, with performance opportunities on a professional concert hall stage. All this and more will be led by Chetham’s School of Music’s Joint Principal Tom Redmond, alongside the School’s world class music tutors and special guest conductors.

In one fun, energised week, you’ll discover more about life as a musician and learn how to take your playing to the next level.

You’ll play pieces such as Dvorak’s Symphony No 8, Coleridge Taylor’s 4 Characteristic Waltzes, Witter-Johnson’s Fairtrade, Stravinsky’s Firebird Suite and Elgar’s Enigma Variations.

Suitable for players at Grades 4 and above, age 11-17 (vocalists age 14-17).

If you’re passionate about music but can’t afford the fee for this course, we’d love to hear from you. Chetham’s School of Music is a charity, with a mission to provide a world-class musical education regardless of financial background. Therefore, we’re pleased to be able to offer a limited number of means tested free places for this course. Please contact:
