A free, one-day event for young woodwind players, aged 9 – 17 (from grade 3 upwards).

Come and join us for a full day of masterclasses, ensemble playing, and lively group discussions, led by a friendly, specialist team of Chetham’s tutors, students, and special guests.

From 10am – 4pm, the action-packed day will include classes for each instrument. Learn top tips on solo repertoire, technique, chamber music and get the chance to play in massed woodwind choirs.

Suitable for players of the following instruments: Clarinet, Saxophone, Recorder, Oboe, Flute, Bassoon.

 

Confirmed Guest Tutors

Adam Lee Clarinet (co-principal clarinet of the BBC Symphony Orchestra, previous principal clarinet no. 2 with the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra)

Jenni Watson Saxophone (saxophonist and composer, works have been broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and Scala Radio)

Chris Orton Recorder (recorder player, Dalcroze Eurhythmics teacher and conductor, currently running the recorder departments at the Junior and Senior Schools of the RNCM and Chetham’s School of Music, visiting tutor at RBC)

Olivier Stankiewicz Oboe (principal oboe of the London Symphony Orchestra, artist in residence at the Wigmore Hall for 2024-2025, previously performed with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and the French National Orchestra)

Sarah Bennett Flute (principal flute no.2 of the Hallé Orchestra and established DJ)
