Axon Ballads

Update for Monday 21 November 2016 – sorry we went away for a while, everyone, the Axon Ballads are now back online again!  You can see the old pages here, and see the images of the ballads, search for titles and first lines.

These pages present images of the Lancashire and Cheshire Antiquarian Society’s Axon Ballad collection, named after their collector, G.R. Axon. The Society has placed the collection on loan at Chetham’s Library, where it can be consulted by prior arrangement.

We’re in the process of re-populating the new Chetham’s Library website, and the Axon Ballad collection will be available online in the future in a different way.
