Over nineteen years, Chetham’s International Summer School and Festival for Pianists has grown into one of the largest and best loved summer schools in the world, attracting over 500 pianists of all ages and abilities over two weeks each August to make music and learn from a superb faculty of players. Since its move into The Stoller Hall in 2017, the International Piano Series has built a growing public audience, enjoying a fortnight of music by professional and emerging artists alongside the Summer School’s participants.
The Sixth Manchester International Concerto Competition for Young Pianists opens with two days of semi-finals. Eighteen young pianists aged 22 and under perform their chosen concerto with second piano accompaniment.
The final of the competition takes place over two evenings on Sunday 25 and Monday 26 August, when successful semi-finalists will perform alongside Manchester Camerata, conducted by Stephen Threlfall.
